@article{fdi:010088400, title = {{A}naerosalibacter bizertensis gen. nov., sp nov., a halotolerant bacterium isolated from sludge}, author = {{R}ezgui, {R}. and {M}aaroufi, {A}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure and {G}am, {Z}. {B}. and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {B}en {H}amed, {S}. and {L}abat, {M}arc}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} strictly anaerobic, halotolerant and thermotolerant strain, designated {C}5{BEL}({T}), was isolated in north {T}unisia from storage tanks holding waste generated by the recycling of discarded motor oils. {C}ells of strain {C}5{BEL}({T}) were {G}ram-stain-positive, motile by laterally inserted flagella, straight, and spore-forming. {T}heir two major fatty acids were iso-{C}-15:0 and iso-{C}-15:0 dimethyl acetal. {G}rowth was observed at temperatures of 25-55 degrees {C} (optimum, 40 degrees {C}) and at p{H} 6-9 (optimum, p{H} 7.5). {T}he salinity range for growth was 0-100 g l(-1) {N}a{C}l (optimum, 5 g l(-1)). {Y}east extract was required for growth. {S}train {C}5{BEL}({T}) was heterotrophic, able to use glucose, pyruvate, succinate, yeast extract, bio-trypticase and peptone, but unable to grow on {C}asamino acids. {S}ulfate, thiosulfate, sulfite, elemental sulfur, fumarate, nitrate and nitrite were not reduced. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content of strain {C}5{BEL}({T}) was 31.1 mol%. 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence analysis indicated that strain {C}5{BEL}({T}) was a member of the family {C}lostridiaceae, class {C}lostridia, phylum {F}irmicutes and was most closely related to {S}poranaerobacter acetigenes {L}up33({T}) (={DSM} 13106({T})) (92.4% similarity). {O}n the basis of 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence comparisons and physiological characteristics, strain {C}5{BEL}({T}) can be classified as a novel species in a new genus, for which the name {A}naerosalibacter bizertensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain of the type species is {C}5{BEL}({T}) (={DSM} 23801({T})={JCM} 17239({T})).}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {62}, numero = {{P}art 10}, pages = {2469--2474}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2012}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.036566-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088400}, }
