In Antananarivo, during the first Covid-19 wave, antiretroviral drug distribution methods and pathways had to be reorganized in order to ensure treatment continuity for people living with HIV (PLHIV). This study is based on semi-structured interviews conducted with various HIV stakeholders (PLHIV, healthcare providers and NGOs) between January and July 2021. While one of the healthcare facilities in this study reorganized an onsite space for drug delivery, other facilities relocated distribution closer to PLHIV. Restructuring was guided by a concern to maintain confidentiality and impacted the mobility of people and molecules. This article highlights the spatial and social skills of patients as well as the role of NGO mediators and the importance of care provision through telephone support given the context of geographical distance between patients, healthcare providers and NGO workers.
