@article{fdi:010084732, title = {{F}rom contact tracing to {COVID}-19 pass holder ; the tortured journey of the {F}rench {T}ous{A}nti{C}ovid contact tracing app}, author = {{S}chultz, {E}milien and {T}ouzani, {R}. and {M}ancini, {J}. and {W}ard, {J}. {K}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{O}bjectives: {O}ur study aimed to provide an updated overview of the use of the {F}rench contact tracing application, {T}ous{A}nti{C}ovid, and identify evolutions since the beginning of the pandemic. {S}tudy design: {W}e conducted a survey study on a representative sample of the {F}rench adult population. {M}ethods: {O}ur data were collected by the {O}bervatoire {R}e = gional de la {S}ante = ({ORS}) using a selfadministered online questionnaire. {T}his was completed by a sample of 2,022 people stratified to match {F}rench official census statistics for gender, age, occupation, and area of housing. {W}e conducted statistical analysis using {P}ython ({P}andas {S}cipy {S}tatsmodels) with chi-squared and {W}ilcoxon rank sum tests to control for statistical significance. {R}esults: {A} small majority of respondents used {T}ous{A}nti{C}ovid (55.5%), while 41.0% had never downloaded it. {O}nly one-quarter of the respondents (23.3%) used it for contact tracing with {B}luetooth, while a third (32.2%) used it only for storing their health pass. {T}he app's use increased with education level, income, and younger age. {A} large majority (85%) of non-vaccinated respondents had never downloaded {T}ous{A}nti{C}ovid. {C}onclusion: {O}ur results suggest that the role and use of {F}rance's official {COVID}-19 app {T}ous{A}nti{C}ovid has evolved in line with the government's strategy; while initially focusing on contact tracing, its development has led to the possibility to store test and vaccination documentation. {T}he survey also confirmed previous results pointing to the lasting differences in socio-economic status in terms of adoption of the app. {T}his is problematic because the long-term nature of the pandemic could require the government to keep a range of strategies open, including contact tracing. {P}ublic discussion of the current and future roles of the {F}rench contact tracing app is therefore needed.}, keywords = {{C}ontact tracing apps ; {COVID}-19 ; {S}urvey ; {F}rance ; {H}ealth behaviors ; {FRANCE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}ublic {H}ealth}, volume = {206}, numero = {}, pages = {5--7}, ISSN = {0033-3506}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.1016/j.puhe.2022.02.009}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010084732}, }
