@article{fdi:010076088, title = {{E}xpression of {DREB}-like genes in {C}offea canephora and {C}. arabica subjected to various types of abiotic stress}, author = {{T}orres, {L}. {F}. and {R}eichel, {T}. and {D}echamp, {E}. and de {A}quino, {S}. {O}. and {D}uarte, {K}. {E}. and {A}lves, {G}. {S}. {C}. and {S}ilva, {A}. {T}. and {C}otta, {M}. {G}. and {C}osta, {T}. {S}. and {D}iniz, {L}. {E}. {C}. and {B}reitler, {J}. {C}. and {C}ollin, {M}yriam and {P}aiva, {L}. {V}. and {A}ndrade, {A}. {C}. and {E}tienne, {H}. and {M}arraccini, {P}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he aim of this work was to study the regulation of coffee {DREB}-like genes in leaves of {C}. arabica subjected to cold, heat, low relative humidity, exogenous abscisic acid and high light stress, as well as in leaves and roots of drought-tolerant and drought-susceptible clones of {C}offea canephora subjected to water limitation. {I}n {C}. arabica, {C}a{ERF}017 was the most expressed gene under low temperatures and relative humidity, while low humidity and high temperatures up-regulated the expression of {C}a{ERF}053 and {C}a{ERF}014, respectively. {U}nder water limitation, {C}c{DREB}1{B}, {C}c{RAP}2.4, {C}c{ERF}027, {C}c{DREB}1{D} and {C}c{TINY} were the most expressed genes mainly in leaves of drought-tolerant {C}. canephora. {O}n the other hand, expression of the {C}c{ERF}016, {C}c{RAP}2.4 and {C}c{DREB}2{F} genes was highly up-regulated under water limitation in the roots of drought-susceptible {C}. canephora clone 22. {W}e previously reported fine-tuned regulation of {C}c{DREB}1{D} promoter haplotypes ({HP}15, {HP}16 and {HP}17) in transgenic {C}. arabica subjected to low humidity. {H}ere, we investigated the regulation of these haplotypes under high light, cold, heat, and abscisic acid ({ABA}) stress. {I}n apical buds and leaf guard cells, {GUS}-stained percentages were higher in p{HP}16{L}-transformed plants subjected to low humidity, high light and {ABA} stress than in p{HP}17{L}- and p{HP}15{L}-transformed plants. {W}e also reported up-regulated expression of the endogenous {C}a{DREB}1{D} gene for both the cold and low humidity in leaves of p{HP}16{L}-transformed {C}. arabica suggesting a key role of this gene in controlling the responses of coffee plants to abiotic stress probably through an {ABA}-dependent pathway.}, keywords = {{A}biotic stress ; {A}bscisic acid - coffee - {DREB} - gene expression - ; promoter}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{T}ropical {P}lant {B}iology}, volume = {12}, numero = {2}, pages = {98--116}, ISSN = {1935-9756}, year = {2019}, DOI = {10.1007/s12042-019-09223-5}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010076088}, }
