@article{fdi:010074902, title = {{I}ntegrated {A}edes management for the control of {A}edes-borne diseases}, author = {{R}oiz, {D}avid and {W}ilson, {A}. {L}. and {S}cott, {T}. {W}. and {F}onseca, {D}. {M}. and {J}ourdain, {F}r{\'e}d{\'e}ric and {M}uller, {P}. and {V}elayudhan, {R}. and {C}orbel, {V}incent}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{B}ackground {D}iseases caused by {A}edes-borne viruses, such as dengue, {Z}ika, chikungunya, and yellow fever, are emerging and reemerging globally. {T}he causes are multifactorial and include global trade, international travel, urbanisation, water storage practices, lack of resources for intervention, and an inadequate evidence base for the public health impact of {A}edes control tools. {N}ational authorities need comprehensive evidence-based guidance on how and when to implement {A}edes control measures tailored to local entomological and epidemiological conditions. {M}ethods and findings {T}his review is one of a series being conducted by the {W}orldwide {I}nsecticide resistance {N}etwork ({WIN}). {I}t describes a framework for implementing {I}ntegrated {A}edes {M}anagement ({IAM}) to improve control of diseases caused by {A}edes-borne viruses based on available evidence. {IAM} consists of a portfolio of operational actions and priorities for the control of {A}edes-borne viruses that are tailored to different epidemiological and entomological risk scenarios. {T}he framework has 4 activity pillars: (i) integrated vector and disease surveillance, (ii) vector control, (iii) community mobilisation, and (iv) intra- and intersectoral collaboration as well as 4 supporting activities: (i) capacity building, (ii) research, (iii) advocacy, and (iv) policies and laws. {C}onclusions {IAM} supports implementation of the {W}orld {H}ealth {O}rganisation {G}lobal {V}ector {C}ontrol {R}esponse ({WHO} {GVCR}) and provides a comprehensive framework for health authorities to devise and deliver sustainable, effective, integrated, community-based, locally adapted vector control strategies in order to reduce the burden of {A}edes-transmitted arboviruses. {T}he success of {IAM} requires strong commitment and leadership from governments to maintain proactive disease prevention programs and preparedness for rapid responses to outbreaks.}, keywords = {{MONDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{PL}o{S} {N}eglected {T}ropical {D}iseases}, volume = {12}, numero = {12}, pages = {e0006845 [21 p.]}, ISSN = {1935-2735}, year = {2018}, DOI = {10.1371/journal.pntd.0006845}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010074902}, }
