  abstract = {{T}he {H}oabinhian is a distinctive lithic techno-complex of mainland and {I}sland {S}outheast {A}sia. {K}nowledge of its relationships with key patterns of technological change at a global scale has progressed over the last two decades. {H}owever, our understanding of the {H}oabinhian as an indicator of evolution during {P}rehistory can be substantially enhanced by examining its regional and chronological variability. {H}ere, we present the characteristics of original {H}oabinhian artefacts found in a new open-air site at {H}ouay {P}ano, near {L}ak {S}ip ({L}uang {P}rabang province, {L}aos). {T}his technological study of such a classic assemblage, including sumatraliths dated to 5.5 +/- 0.6 ka, is a major contribution to {L}aotian prehistory and our understanding of the tempo-spatial variability of the {H}oabinhian techno-complex.},
