  abstract = {{T}he {N}ew {C}aledonian biodiversity hotspot contains many micro-hotspots that exhibit high plant micro-endemism, and that are facing different types and intensities of threats. {T}he {B}elep archipelago, and especially ile {A}rt, with 24 and 21 respective narrowly endemic species (1 {E}xtinct, 21 {C}ritically {E}ndangered and 2 {E}ndangered), should be considered as the most sensitive micro-hotspot of plant diversity in {N}ew {C}aledonia because of the high anthropogenic threat of fire. {N}ano-hotspots could also be defined for the low forest remnants of the southern and northern plateaus of ile {A}rt. {W}ith an average rate of more than one new species described for {N}ew {C}aledonia each month since {J}anuary 2000 and five new endemics for the {B}elep archipelago since 2009, the state of knowledge of the flora is steadily improving. {T}he present account of eight new species from ile {A}rt ({B}ocquillonia montrouzieri {G}ateble & {M}c{P}herson, {C}leidion artense {G}ateble & {M}c{P}herson, {E}ndiandra artensis {M}unzinger & {M}c{P}herson, {E}ugenia belepiana {J}.{W}.{D}awson ex {N}.{S}now, {E}ugenia insulartensis {J}.{W}.{D}awson ex {N}.{S}now, {M}acaranga latebrosa {G}ateble & {M}c{P}herson, {P}lanchonella serpentinicola {S}wenson & {M}unzinger and {P}sychotria neodouarrei {B}arrabe & {A}.{M}artini) further demonstrates the need both to recognise the {B}elep {I}slands as a major {N}ew {C}aledonian micro-hotspot and to formulate concrete conservation programs for the archipelago.},
