@article{fdi:010074431, title = {{R}{\'e}ponses des populations de reptiles {\`a} l’{\'e}radication du rat noir ({R}attus rattus) sur l’{\^i}le de {B}agaud (parc national de {P}ort-{C}ros, {V}ar, {F}rance) = {R}esponses of reptile populations to the eradication of the {R}oof {R}at ({R}attus rattus) on {B}agaud {I}sland ({P}ort-{C}ros {N}ational {P}ark, {V}ar, {F}rance)}, author = {{K}rebs, {E}. and {A}bba, {A}. and {G}illet, {P}. and {E}udeline, {R}. and {G}authier, {J}. and {L}e {Q}uilliec, {P}. and {L}orvelec, {O}. and {M}artinerie, {G}. and {V}idal, {E}ric and {B}uisson, {E}.}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{A}n eradication of two invasive taxa, the {R}oof {R}at ({R}attus rattus) and {I}ce plants ({C}arpobrotus spp.), was undertaken in 2011 and 2012 on the protected nature reserve of {B}agaud island, located in {P}ort-{C}ros national {P}ark (south-eastern {F}rance). {R}. rattus eradication was successful while {C}arpobrotus spp. eradication is still in progress. {T}o assess the effects of {R}. rattus eradication on island reptile populations ({M}ontpellier {S}nake {M}alpolon monspessulanus, {E}uropean {L}eaf-toed {G}ecko {E}uleptes europaea, {C}ommon {W}all {L}izard {P}odarcis muralis), a pre-eradication monitoring was conducted in 2010 and 2011, and a post-eradication monitoring in 2013 and 2014. {C}ensus was performed with three semi-quantitative methods: (1) three transects of 80 m long and 2 m wide; (2) two quadrats 1225 m(2); (3) five rocky microsites, habitats for {E}. europaea. {V}ery few individuals of {M}. monspessulanus were observed. {S}ignificant results were obtained only for {E}. europaea: after eradication, the number of observed juveniles increased and all observed individuals, independently of their age groups, were more outside shelters than inside. {T}hese results can be explained by the loss of avoidance behaviour that {E}. europaea displayed when in presence of {R}. rattus, and by lower predation pressure, given that both species are nocturnal. {T}he elapsed time since eradication of {R}. rattus is quite short and some species have not necessarily visibly responded demographically. {A}dditional monitoring in the coming years will provide further insights.}, keywords = {{FRANCE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{R}evue d'{E}cologie : {L}a {T}erre et la {V}ie}, volume = {70}, numero = {12}, pages = {99--109}, ISSN = {0249-7395}, year = {2015}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010074431}, }
