  abstract = {{T}he gall crab {O}pecarcinus cathyae van der {M}eij, 2014 has been reported from various localities in {I}ndonesia and {M}alaysia. {R}ecent surveys in the {R}ed {S}ea, {M}aldives and {J}apan yielded additional specimens of {O}. cathyae, considerably expanding the known distribution range of this species to the east and west. {T}he identity of {O}. cathyae was confirmed based on {COI} sequence data, revealing identical haplotypes for the {R}ed {S}ea, {M}aldivian and {J}apanese material and three haplotypes in the {I}ndonesian material. {O}pecarcinus cathyae has one of the widest known recorded distribution ranges for all gall crab species.},
