@article{fdi:010073184, title = {{O}ptimization of bio-insecticide production by {T}unisian {B}acillus thuringiensis israelensis and its application in the field}, author = {{Z}ghal, {R}. {Z}. and {K}harrat, {M}. and {R}ebai, {A}. and {B}en {K}hedher, {S}. and {J}allouli, {W}. and {E}lleuch, {J}. and {G}inibre, {C}arole and {C}handre, {F}abrice and {T}ounsi, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{B}acillus thuringiensis israelensis biological larvicides represent a good approach to support vector borne diseases control programs targeting earlier aquatic larval stages to limit their adult mosquito spreading. {BUPM}98, a {T}unisian {B}. thuringiensis israelensis strain, is highly active against {A}edes aegypti larvae. {F}or the production of {BUPM}98 bioinsecticide, an agricultural by-product medium consisting of gruel and soybean meal has been optimized. {O}ptimization of the medium composition was performed with statistical methodology based on experimental designs. {A}ccordingly, the optimum toxin production was 2375.36 +/- 48.52 mg/{L} at the following conditions: {K}2{HPO}4: 60 m{M}, p{H}: 7.6 and soybean meal: 32 g/{L}, which led to an improvement of 30% compared to the starting conditions. {T}he impact of water quality on the effectiveness of {BUPM}98 delta-endotoxins against {C}ulex pipiens larvae was investigated. {I}ndeed, under field conditions, the direct application of {BUPM}98 fermentation product in stagnant water pools reduced the immature density of {C}. pipiens larvae by more than 95% after 48 h of treatment. {P}rolonged residual action was observed until 14 days. {I}n conclusion, {BUPM}98, a local strain of {B}. thuringiensis israelensis, is very promising bioinsecticide for mosquito population management in {T}unisia.}, keywords = {{B}acillus thuringiensis israelensis ; {M}edium optimization ; {A}edes aegypti ; {C}ulex pipens ; {M}osquito's control in the field ; {TUNISIE} ; {SFAX}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{B}iological {C}ontrol}, volume = {124}, numero = {}, pages = {46--52}, ISSN = {1049-9644}, year = {2018}, DOI = {10.1016/j.biocontrol.2018.06.002}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010073184}, }
