  abstract = {{M}etrosideros {B}anks ex {G}aertner (1788: 170, {M}yrtaceae) is one of the most widespread tree genus across the {P}acific islands and is an emerging model for the study of speciation in tropical trees ({P}apadopulos et al. 2011; {S}tacy et al. 2014). {T}he material housed at the {M}us{\'e}um {N}ational d'{H}istoire {N}aturelle in {P}aris ({P}) was recently reviewed in order to prepare the evaluation of the {N}ew {C}aledonian species for the {IUCN} redlist ({IUCN} 2017) and apply some recent taxonomic changes in the genus ({P}illon et al. 2015). {A} new species from {V}anuatu came to light and is described below.},
