@article{fdi:010072829, title = {{S}hared larval rearing environment, sex, female size and genetic diversity shape {A}e. albopictus bacterial microbiota}, author = {{M}inard, {G}. and {T}ran, {F}. {H}. and {V}an, {V}. {T}. and {F}ournier, {C}. and {P}otier, {P}. and {R}oiz, {D}avid and {M}avingui, {P}. and {M}oro, {C}. {V}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he {A}sian tiger mosquito {A}edes albopictus became of public health concern as it can replicate and transmit viral and filarial pathogens with a strong invasive success over the world. {V}arious strategies have been proposed to reduce mosquito population's vectorial capacity. {A}mong them, symbiotic control of mosquito borne disease offers promising perspectives. {S}uch method is likely to be affected by the dynamics of mosquito-associated symbiotic communities, which might in turn be affected by host genotype and environment. {O}ur previous study suggested a correlation between mosquitoes' origin, genetic diversity and midgut bacterial diversity. {T}o distinguish the impact of those factors, we have been studying the midgut bacterial microbiota of two {A}e. albopictus populations from tropical ({L}a {R}e {A} union) and temperate ({M}ontpellier) origins under controlled laboratory conditions. the two populations experienced random mating or genetic bottleneck. {M}icrobiota composition did not highlight any variation of the alpha and beta-diversities in bacterial communities related to host's populations. {H}owever, sizes of the mosquitoes were negatively correlated with the bacterial a-diversity of females. {V}ariations in mosquito sex were associated with a shift in the composition of bacterial microbiota. {T}he females' mosquitoes also exhibited changes in the microbiota composition according to their size and after experiencing a reduction of their genetic diversity. {T}hese results provide a framework to investigate the impact of population dynamics on the symbiotic communities associated with the tiger mosquito.}, keywords = {{FRANCE} ; {REUNION} ; {MONTPELLIER} ; {ZONE} {TEMPEREE} ; {ZONE} {TROPICALE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{PL}o{S} {O}ne}, volume = {13}, numero = {4}, pages = {e0194521 [16 p.]}, ISSN = {1932-6203}, year = {2018}, DOI = {10.1371/journal.pone.0194521}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010072829}, }
