  abstract = {{A} recent phylogenetic study showed that species assigned to the newly recognised genus {P}ectinariella {S}zlach., {M}ytnik & {G}rochocka (previously treated as {A}ngraecum {B}ory sect. {P}ectinaria {B}enth.) are polyphyletic, comprising a clade with species primarily in {M}adagascar and the {W}estern {I}ndian {O}cean islands (including the type) and another non-sister clade whose members occur in continental {A}frica and the {G}ulf of {G}uinea islands. {I}n order to render {P}ectinariella monophyletic, the five continental {A}frican species must therefore be removed. {A} new genus, {A}fropectinariella {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart, is described and the following combinations are made: {A}fropectinariella atlantica ({S}tevart & {D}roissart) {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart, {A}fropectinariella doratophylla ({S}ummerh.) {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart, {A}fropectinariella gabonensis ({S}ummerh.) {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart, {A}fropectinariella pungens ({S}chltr.) {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart and {A}fropectinariella subulata ({L}indl.) {M}. {S}imo & {S}tevart.},
