@inproceedings{fdi:010072127, title = {{S}tudy of the spatial variability of marine pollution around the peninsula of {C}ape {V}erde [r{\'e}sum{\'e}]}, author = {{K}ande, {Y}. and {B}rehmer, {P}atrice and {C}onstantin de {M}agny, {G}uillaume and {G}assama, {A}. and {S}onko, {A}. and {D}iop, {A}. and {F}inot, {L}uc and {C}isse, {I}. and {F}all, {M}. and {S}adio, {O}. and {D}iara, {M}. and {D}iankha, {O}. and {G}algani, {F}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{M}arine pollution, the scourge of modern times, is due to the runoff of domestic and industrial waters as well as to various anthropogenic activities, i.e. products and objects deliberately or accidentally discharged into the sea. {T}he samples taken from 11 sites on the {C}ap-{V}ert peninsula in {S}enegal, indicate the presence of certain polluting substances in varying amounts. {T}he objective of this work is to study the correlations between the physical, microbiological and chemical parameters in order to highlight the similarities between the sites and, if possible, to determine the most relevant parameter(s) to characterize the pollution. {PCA} results have shown that some sites appear to be less chemically polluted than others that are more polluted with eutrophication and chemicals (e.g., copper, mercury). {F}rom a physical point of view, for example, we observe that the characteristics of sediments (large silt, clays, fine silt) are related to certain chemical parameters.{T}he {AFC} performed between the overall toxicity of the sediments and the microbiological quality of the water shows that the site of {O}uakam has a medium toxicity and a good microbiological quality while that of {C}amb{\'e}r{\`e}ne and the {V}ivier are characterized respectively by bad and good quality but also by low toxicity at both sites. {T}he two sites of {H}ann ({H}ann1 and {H}ann2), {S}oumb{\'e}dioune, {N}gor, {Y}off {T}onghor and {D}akar {L}e {D}antec are characterized by high toxicity and poor microbiological quality. {T}hose in the {M}adeleine {I}slands and the {P}ort of {D}akar are characterized by high toxicity and bad microbiological quality. {M}oreover, as expected {S}oumb{\'e}dioune appears as the most polluted sites in terms of microbiological load. {T}he interest of the multivariate approach ({ACP} and {AFC}) is then discussed in this type of analysis.}, keywords = {{AFRIQUE} {DE} {L}'{OUEST} ; {SENEGAL} ; {CAP} {VERT} ; {ATLANTIQUE}}, numero = {}, pages = {81--82}, booktitle = {{I}nternational conference {ICAWA} 2016 : extended book of abstract : the {AWA} project : ecosystem approach to the management of fisheries and the marine environment in {W}est {A}frican waters}, year = {2017}, ISBN = {978-2-9553602-0-5}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010072127}, }
