@article{fdi:010070890, title = {{A} mega-phylogeny of the {A}nnonaceae : taxonomic placement of five enigmatic genera and support for a new tribe, {P}hoenicantheae}, author = {{G}uo, {X}. and {T}ang, {C}. {C}. and {T}homas, {D}. {C}. and {C}ouvreur, {T}homas and {S}aunders, {R}. {M}. {K}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he {A}nnonaceae, the largest family in the early-divergent order {M}agnoliales, comprises 107 genera and c. 2,400 species. {P}revious molecular phylogenetic studies targeting different taxa have generated large quantities of partially overlapping {DNA} sequence data for many species, although a large-scale phylogeny based on the maximum number of representatives has never been reconstructed. {W}e use a supermatrix of eight chloroplast markers (rbc{L}, mat{K}, ndh{F}, psb{A}-trn{H}, trn{L}-{F}, atp{B}-rbc{L}, trn{S}-{G} and ycf1) to reconstruct the most comprehensive tree to date, including 705 species (29%) from 105 genera (98%). {T}his provides novel insights into the relationships of five enigmatic genera ({B}ocagea, {B}outiquea, {C}ardiopetalum, {D}uckeanthus and {P}hoenicanthus). {F}ifteen main clades are retrieved in subfamilies {A}nnonoideae and {M}almeoideae collectively, 14 of which correspond with currently recognised tribes. {P}hoenicanthus cannot be accommodated in any existing tribe, however: it is retrieved as sister to a clade comprising the tribes {D}endrokingstonieae, {M}onocarpieae and {M}iliuseae, and we therefore validate a new tribe, {P}hoenicantheae. {O}ur results provide strong support for many previously recognised groups, but also indicate non-monophyly of several genera ({D}esmopsis, {F}riesodielsia, {K}larobelia, {O}xandra, {P}iptostigma and {S}tenanona). {T}he relationships of these non-monophyletic genera-and two other genera ({F}roesiodendron and {M}elodorum) not yet sampled-are discussed, with recommendations for future research.}, keywords = {{ZONE} {TROPICALE} ; {ZONE} {SUBTROPICALE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{S}cientific {R}eports - {N}ature}, volume = {7}, numero = {}, pages = {7323 [11 ]}, ISSN = {2045-2322}, year = {2017}, DOI = {10.1038/s41598-017-07252-2}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010070890}, }
