@article{fdi:010069997, title = {{M}esorhizobium delmotii and {M}esorhizobium prunaredense are two new species containing rhizobial strains within the symbiovar anthyllidis}, author = {{M}ohamad, {R}. and {W}illems, {A}. and {L}e {Q}u{\'e}r{\'e}, {A}ntoine and {M}aynaud, {G}. and {P}ervent, {M}. and {B}onabaud, {M}. and {D}ubois, {E}. and {C}leyet-{M}arel, {J}. {C}. and {B}runel, {B}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{E}ight mesorhizobial symbiotic strains isolated from {A}nthyllis vulneraria root-nodules were studied and compared taxonomically with defined {M}esorhizobium species. {A}ll strains presented identical 165 r{DNA} sequences but can be differentiated by multilocus sequence analysis of housekeeping genes (rec{A}, atp{D}, glnll and dna{K}). {M}atrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry analyses separate these strains in two groups and a separate strain. {L}evels of {DNA}-{DNA} relatedness were less than 55% between representative strains and their closest {M}esorhizobium reference relatives. {T}he two groups containing four and three strains, respectively, originating from border mine and non-mining areas in {C}evennes, were further phenotypically characterized. {G}roupings were further supported by average nucleotide identity values based on genome sequencing, which ranged from 80 to 92% with their close relatives and with each other, confirming these groups represent new {M}esorhizobium species. {T}herefore, two novel species {M}esorhizobium delmotii sp. nov. (type strain {STM}4623({T}) = {LMG} 296401({T})= {CFBP} 84361({T}) ) and {M}esorhizobium prunaredense sp. nov.
