@article{fdi:010069256, title = {{P}aludifilum halophilum gen. nov., sp. nov., a thermoactinomycete isolated from superficial sediment of a solar saltern}, author = {{F}rikha-{D}ammak, {D}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {B}en {F}guira-{F}ourati, {L}. and {N}ajeh, {S}. and {O}llivier, {B}ernard and {M}aalej, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel filamentous, halophilic, thermotolerant bacterium, strain {SMB}g3({T}) was isolated from superficial sediment of a solar saltern in {S}fax, {T}unisia. {T}he isolate is {G}ram-staining-positive, aerobic, catalase- and oxidase-positive. {O}ptimum growth occurred at 40-45 degrees {C}, with 10 % (w/v) {N}a{C}l and at p{H} 8.0-9.0. {L}ong and well developed aerial and substrate mycelia, with long chains of fluorescent and circular spores, were observed on all tested media. {P}hylogenetic analysis based on 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequences indicated that strain {SMB}g3({T}) belongs to an independent phylogenetic lineage of the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae and shows a gene sequence similarity of 94 % with {D}esmospora activa {DSM} 45169({T}) 94.2 % with {K}roppenstedtia eburnea {DSM} 45196({T}), 94.3 % with {K}roppenstedtia guangzhouensis {KCTC} 29149({T}), 94.3 % with {M}elghirimyces algeriensis{DSM} 45474({T}) and 94.5 % with {S}alinithrix halophila {CECT} 8506({T}). {T}he predominant menaquinone is {MK}-7, but {MK}-8 and some minor unidentified components are also present in trace amounts. {T}he major cellular fatty acids are anteiso-{C}-15:0, iso-{C}-15:0 and iso-{C}-17:0. {I}n addition to four major polar lipids identified as phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, five minor unknown lipids were detected in cell membranes. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content of strain {SMB}g3({T}) is 51.2 mol%. {S}train {SMB}g3({T}) is distinct from recognized genera of the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae by morphological, biochemical and chemotaxonomic characteristics. {O}n the basis of physiological and phylogenetic data, strain {SMB}g3({T}) represents a novel species of a new genus in the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae for which the name {P}aludifilum halophilum gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain of the type species is {SMB}g3({T}) (={DSM} 102817({T})={CCUG} 68698({T})).}, keywords = {{TUNISIE} ; {SFAX}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {66}, numero = {12}, pages = {5371--5378}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1099/ijsem.0.001523}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010069256}, }
