@article{fdi:010068896, title = {{V}irgibacillus ainsalahensis sp. nov., a moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from sediment of a saline lake in south of {A}lgeria}, author = {{A}mziane, {M}. and {D}arenfed-{B}ouanane, {A}. and {A}bderrahmani, {A}. and {S}elama, {O}. and {J}ouadi, {L}. and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {N}ateche, {F}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} {G}ram-positive, moderately halophilic, endospore-forming bacterium, designated {M}er{V}({T}), was isolated from a sediment sample of a saline lake located in {A}in {S}alah, south of {A}lgeria. {T}he cells were rod shaped and motile. {I}solate {M}er{V}({T}) grew at salinity interval of 0.5-25% {N}a{C}l (optimum, 5-10%), p{H} 6.0-12.0 (optimum, 8.0), and temperature between 10 and 40 {A} degrees {C} (optimum, 30 {A} degrees {C}).{T}he polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, a glycolipid, a phospholipid, and two lipids, and {MK}-7 is the predominant menaquinone. {T}he predominant cellular fatty acids were anteiso {C}-15:0 and anteiso {C}-17:0. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 45.3 mol%. {P}hylogenetic analysis based on 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence comparisons revealed that strain {M}er{V}({T}) was most closely related to {V}irgibacillus halodenitrificans (gene sequence similarity of 97.0%). {O}n the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic properties, and phylogenetic analyses, strain {M}er{V}({T}) (={DSM} = 28944({T})) should be placed in the genus {V}irgibacillus as a novel species, for which the name {V}irgibacillus ainsalahensis is proposed.}, keywords = {{ALGERIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}urrent {M}icrobiology}, volume = {74}, numero = {2}, pages = {219--223}, ISSN = {0343-8651}, year = {2017}, DOI = {10.1007/s00284-016-1171-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010068896}, }
