@article{fdi:010068290, title = {{D}iversity of root-associated arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities in a rubber tree plantation chronosequence in {N}ortheast {T}hailand}, author = {{H}errmann, {L}. and {L}esueur, {D}. and {B}rau, {L}. and {D}avison, {J}. and {J}airus, {T}. and {R}obain, {H}enri and {R}obin, {A}. and {V}asar, {M}. and {W}iriyakitnateekul, {W}. and {O}pik, {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{R}ubber tree ({H}evea brasiliensis) is of major economic importance in {S}outheast {A}sia and for small land holders in {T}hailand in particular. {D}ue to the high value of latex, plantations are expanding into unsuitable areas, such as the northeast province of {T}hailand where soil fertility is very low and therefore appropriate management practices are of primary importance. {A}rbuscular mycorrhizal fungi ({AMF}) contribute to plant growth through a range of mechanisms and could play a key role in a more sustainable management of the rubber plantations. {W}e described the diversity of {AMF} associated with rubber tree roots in {N}ortheast {T}hailand in relation to tree age and soil parameters along a chronosequence of rubber tree plantations. {C}assava fields were included for comparison. {R}ubber tree and cassava roots harbored high diversity of {AMF} (111 {V}irtual {T}axa, {VT}), including 20 novel {VT}. {AMF} {VT} richness per sample was consistently high (per site mean 16 to 21 {VT} per sample) along the chronosequence and was not related to soil properties. {T}he composition of {AMF} communities differed between cassava and rubber tree plantations and was influenced by soil texture and nutrient content (sand, {K}, {P}, {C}a). {AMF} community composition gradually shifted with the age of the trees. {O}ur results suggest that the high diversity of {AMF} in this region is potentially significant for maintaining high functionality of {AMF} communities.}, keywords = {{R}ubber tree ; {H}evea brasiliensis ; {A}rbuscular mycorrhizal fungi ; {C}ommunity ; {C}hronosequence ; {D}iversity ; {THAILANDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{M}ycorrhiza}, volume = {26}, numero = {8}, pages = {863--877}, ISSN = {0940-6360}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1007/s00572-016-0720-5}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010068290}, }
