@article{fdi:010068270, title = {{T}ime and mode of exhumation of the {C}ordillera {B}lanca batholith ({P}eruvian {A}ndes)}, author = {{M}argirier, {A}. and {A}udin, {L}aurence and {R}obert, {X}avier and {H}erman, {F}. and {G}anne, {J}{\'e}r{\^o}me and {S}chwartz, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he {C}ordillera {B}lanca batholith (12-5{M}yr) forms the highest {P}eruvian summits and builds the footwall of the {C}ordillera {B}lanca normal fault ({CBNF}). {E}ven if several models have been proposed, the processes driving both the exhumation of the {C}ordillera {B}lanca and extensional deformation along the {CBNF} are still debated. {H}ere we quantify the emplacement depth and exhumation of the batholith of the northern {P}eru arc from the late {M}iocene to present. {B}ased on a compilation of crystallization ages and new thermobarometry data in the {C}ordillera {B}lanca batholith, we propose that the batholith was emplaced at a depth of similar to 3km in successive sills from 14 to 5{M}a. {B}y contrast, the younger rocks exposed at the surface were emplaced the deepest (i.e., similar to 6km) and are located close to the {CBNF}, suggesting post 5{M}a tilting. {F}urthermore, a formal inversion of the thermochronologic data indicates an increase of the exhumation rates in the {C}ordillera {B}lanca during the {Q}uaternary. {T}he higher predicted exhumation rates correlate with areas of high relief, both in the northern and central part of the {C}ordillera {B}lanca, suggesting that {Q}uaternary valley carving by glaciations have a significant impact on the latest stage of the {C}ordillera {B}lanca exhumation (2-0{M}a).}, keywords = {amphibole thermobarometry ; normal fault ; plutonism ; glacial erosion ; {A}ndes ; {C}ordillera {B}lanca ; {PEROU} ; {ANDES} ; {CORDILLERE} {BLANCHE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {G}eophysical {R}esearch : {S}olid {E}arth}, volume = {121}, numero = {8}, pages = {6235--6249}, ISSN = {2169-9313}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1002/2016jb013055}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010068270}, }
