@article{fdi:010068142, title = {{B}e-10 cosmic-ray exposure dating of moraines and rock avalanches in the {U}pper {R}omanche valley ({F}rench {A}lps) : evidence of two glacial advances during the {L}ate {G}lacial/{H}olocene transition}, author = {{C}henet, {M}. and {B}runstein, {D}. and {J}omelli, {V}. and {R}oussel, {E}. and {R}interknecht, {V}. and {M}okadem, {F}. and {B}iette, {M}. and {R}obert, {V}. and {L}eanni, {L}aetitia}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{C}osmic-ray exposure ({CRE}) dating of moraines allow glacier fluctuations and past climate change reconstructions. {I}n the {F}rench {A}lps, there is a lack of moraine dating for the {L}ate {G}lacial/{H}olocene transition period. {H}ere we present a chronology of glacier advances in the {U}pper {R}omanche valley ({F}rench {A}lps - {M}assif des {E}crins) based on {B}e-10 {CRE} dating. {CRE} ages of moraines of 13.0 +/- 1.1 ka and 12.4 +/- 1.5 ka provide evidence for two stages of glacial advance or standstill at the end of the {L}ate {G}lacial. {T}he {CRE} dating of a rock avalanche deposit at 12.2 +/- 1.5 ka is attributed to post-glacial debuttressing and reveals rapid deglaciation at the end of the {L}ate {G}lacial. {A} {CRE} age of 7.1 +/- 0.7 ka of a second mass wasting, whose triggering factor is unidentified so far, indicates that up to an altitude of 2300 m a.s.l., the valley was ice-free as of similar to 7 kyr at the latest. {T}he re-evaluation of 21 moraine {B}e-10 {CRE} ages from nine glacial valleys across the {A}lps shows multiple glacial advances occurring at the {L}ate {G}lacial/{H}olocene transition. {T}hese results lead to a re-evaluation of the importance of cooling events during the {A}llerod and the {Y}ounger {D}ryas in the {A}lps.}, keywords = {{G}lacier fluctuations ; {B}e-10 cosmic-ray exposure dating ; {L}ate {G}lacial ; {H}olocene ; {F}rench {A}lps ; {FRANCE} ; {ALPES}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{Q}uaternary {S}cience {R}eviews}, volume = {148}, numero = {}, pages = {209--221}, ISSN = {0277-3791}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1016/j.quascirev.2016.07.025}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010068142}, }
