  abstract = {{S}pecies of the monogenean genus {Q}uadriacanthus mainly infect fish belonging to the {S}iluriformes, especially the genera {C}larias, {H}eterobranchus or {B}agrus, and their host specificity is strict (oioxenous) or narrow (stenoxenous). {A}n examination of the gills of 19 {P}apyrocranus afer from {L}ake {O}ssa, {S}outh {C}ameroon, revealed for the first time the presence of a species of {Q}uadriacanthus from a fish host belonging to the {N}otopteridae. {T}he morphology and the size of sclerotized parts of haptor and the male and female copulatory complexes suggest that this monogenean is a new species named {Q}uadriacanthus euzeti n. sp. {T}he fish genus {P}apyrocranus differs taxonomically from the usual fish hosts of {Q}uadriacanthus and hence the presence of a species belonging to this genus on the gills of this host suggests the occurrence of a lateral transfer of {Q}uadriacanthus from species belonging to {C}larias or {B}agrus which live sympatrically with {P}. afer in {L}ake {O}ssa.},
