  abstract = {{P}opulations in {B}olivia of an {A}ttalea {K}unth species ({A}recaceae) with regularly spaced pinnae were historically assigned to {A}ttalea butyracea ({M}utis) {W}ess. {B}oer, which also occurs in {C}olombia, western {V}enezuela and northern {E}cuador. {D}uring a recent fieldtrip to the {C}hapare province in {C}ochabamba department (central {B}olivia), we visited the {Y}uracare people's territory that {A}lcide d'{O}rbigny mentioned as harboring a large and distinct palm, {A}ttalea blepharopus {M}art. {B}ased on its morphology, we recognize the species as distinct from {A}ttalea butyracea and designate a lectotype based on the original illustrations and an epitype based on a recent complete collection. {T}he species is described in details and illustrated with photographs for the first time.},
