Archaeologial work in the Santa Ana-La Florida site (Palanda) has given a precise chronological dimension and has produced evidence on the ideology, architecture, funerary customs and the material culture in general of this social manifestation that developed and flourished during the early and middle Formative period. Important paleobotanical evidence has shed information on the food that was produced and consumed in the site area. Special intrest has been given to the evidence of social use of cacao, dated at 5300 years before the present. %$ 112ARCHEO02
