@article{fdi:010066900, title = {{I}dentification of novel major and minor {QTL}s associated with {X}anthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae ({A}frican strains) resistance in rice ({O}ryza sativa {L}.)}, author = {{D}jedatin, {G}ustave and {N}djiondjop, {M}. {N}. and {S}anni, {A}. and {L}orieux, {M}athias and {V}erdier, {V}al{\'e}rie and {G}hesqui{\`e}re, {A}lain}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{X}anthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae ({X}oo) is the causal agent of {B}acterial {L}eaf {B}light ({BB}), an emerging disease in rice in {W}est-{A}frica which can induce up to 50 % of yield losses. {S}o far, no specific resistance gene or {QTL} to {A}frican {X}oo were mapped. {T}he objectives of this study were to identify and map novels and specific resistance {QTL}s to {A}frican {X}oo strains. {T}he reference recombinant inbred lines ({RIL}) mapping population derived from the cross between {IR}64 and {A}zucena was used to investigate {X}oo resistance. {R}esistance to {A}frican and {P}hilippine {X}oo strains representing different races was assessed on the {RIL} population under greenhouse conditions. {F}ive major quantitative trait loci ({QTL}) for resistance against {A}frican {X}oo were located on different chromosomes. {L}oci on chromosomes 1, 7, 9, 10 and 11 explained as much as 13 %, 37 %, 13 %, 11 % and 15 % of resistance variation, respectively. {A} major novel {QTL} located on chromosome 7 explained 37 % of the phenotypic variance to the {A}frican {X}oo corresponding to race {A}3 whereas that on chromosome 11 is effective to all {A}frican races tested. {T}ogether with genes and {QTL}s for resistance to bacterial blight previously described, the {QTL}s described here were mapped onto the reference {O}. sativa subs japonica (var. {N}ipponbare) physical map. {W}e characterized new resistance {QTL}s. {W}hile some co-localize with known resistance genes/{QTL}s to {A}sian strains, others are specific to {A}frican strains. {W}e result with new information on genes and {QTL}s for resistance to bacterial blight that will be useful for controlling the disease.}, keywords = {{M}olecular mapping ; {QTL} ; disease resistance ; {X}anthomonas oryzae pv. ; oryzae ; {O}ryza sativa}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{R}ice}, volume = {9}, numero = {}, pages = {1--10}, ISSN = {1939-8425}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1186/s12284-016-0090-9}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010066900}, }
