@article{fdi:010066831, title = {{E}valuation of the {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel for testing the antimicrobial susceptibility of {M}ycobacterium marinum isolates}, author = {{C}hazel, {M}. and {M}archandin, {H}. and {K}eck, {N}. and {T}erru, {D}. and {C}arriere, {C}. and {P}onsoda, {M}. and {J}acomo, {V}. and {P}anteix, {G}. and {B}ouzinbi, {N}. and {B}anuls, {A}nne-{L}aure and {C}hoisy, {M}arc and {S}olassol, {J}. and {A}ubry, {A}. and {G}odreuil, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{B}ackground: {T}he agar dilution method is currently considered as the reference method for {M}ycobacterium marinum drug susceptibility testing ({DST}). {A}s it is time-consuming, alternative methods, such as the {E}-test, were evaluated for {M}. marinum {DST}, but without success. {T}he {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel, recently commercialized by {TREK} {D}iagnostic {S}ystems ({C}leveland, {OH}), can be used for {DST} in slow-growing mycobacteria and for antimicrobial agents recommended by the {C}linical and {L}aboratory {S}tandards {I}nstitute ({CLSI}) for {M}. marinum {DST}. {T}he main goal of this work was to evaluate the {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel method for {DST} in {M}. marinum isolates from human patients and fish relative to the reference agar dilution method. {M}ethods/{R}esults: {T}he reproducibility of the minimum inhibitory concentration ({MIC}) determination (+/- 1 log(2) dilution) was very good for both the agar dilution method and {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel (>90 % agreement). {T}he percentage essential agreement between methods varied, depending on the drug: between 97 and 75 % for ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, linezolid, isoniazid, clarithromycin, amikacin, rifabutin and rifampin, 74 % for trimethoprim, 72 % for doxycycline, 70 % for sulfamethoxazole, 59 % for streptomycin, 33 % for ethambutol and only 2.2 % for ethionamide. {W}hen the agar dilution and {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel results were converted into interpretive criteria, the category agreement was 100 % for amikacin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, moxifloxacin, rifabutin, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, 98 % for ethambutol and 96 % for rifampin and no agreement for doxycycline. {C}onclusions: {T}he {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel method could provide a potential alternative to the reference agar dilution method, when {DST} in {M}. marinum is required, except for doxycycline.}, keywords = {{M}ycobacterium marinum ; {SLOMYCO} {S}ensititre ({R}) panel ; {A}gar dilution method ; {A}ntimicrobial susceptibility testing ; {H}uman and fish isolates}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}nnals of {C}linical {M}icrobiology and {A}ntimicrobials}, volume = {15}, numero = {}, pages = {art. 30 [7p.]}, ISSN = {1476-0711}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1186/s12941-016-0145-1}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010066831}, }
