@article{fdi:010066812, title = {{M}obilisporobacter senegalensis gen. nov., sp nov., an anaerobic bacterium isolated from tropical shea cake}, author = {{M}bengue, {M}. and {T}hioye, {A}. and {L}abat, {M}arc and {C}asalot, {L}aurence and {J}oseph, {M}anon and {S}amb, {A}. and {G}am, {Z}. {B}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} {G}ram-stain positive, endospore-forming, strictly anaerobic bacterium, designated strain {G}al1({T}), was isolated from shea cake, a waste material from the production of shea butter, originating from {S}araya, {S}enegal. {T}he cells were rod-shaped, slightly curved, and motile with peritrichous flagella. {T}he strain was oxidase-negative and catalase-negative. {G}rowth was observed at temperatures ranging from 15 to 45 degrees {C} (optimum 30 degrees {C}) and at p{H} 6.5-9.3 (optimum p{H} 7.8). {T}he salinity range for growth was 0-3.5 % {N}a{C}l (optimum 1 %). {Y}east extract was required for growth. {S}train {G}al1({T}) fermented various carbohydrates such as mannose, mannitol, arabinose, cellobiose, fructose, glucose, maltose, sucrose, trehalose and lactose and the major end-products were ethanol and acetate. {T}he only major cellular fatty acid was {C}16 : 0 (19.6 %). {T}he {DNA} base {G}+ {C} content of strain {G}al1({T}) was 33.8 mol%. {A}nalysis of the 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence of the isolate indicated that this strain was related to {M}obilitalea sibirica {DSM} 26468({T}) with 94.27 % similarity, {C}lostridium populeti {ATTC} 35295({T}) with 93.94 % similarity, and {C}lostridium aminovalericum {DSM} 1283({T}) and {A}naerosporobacter mobilis {DSM} 15930({T}) with 93.63 % similarity. {O}n the basis of phenotypic characteristics, phylogenetic analysis and the results of biochemical and physiological tests, strain {G}al1({T}) was clearly distinguished from closely related genera, and strain {G}al1({T}) can be assigned to a novel species of a new genus for which the name {M}obilisporobacter senegalensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain is {G}al1({T}) (5{DSM} 26537({T}) 5{JCM} 18753({T})).}, keywords = {{SENEGAL}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {66}, numero = {3}, pages = {1383--1388}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1099/ijsem.0.000889}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010066812}, }
