({N}ematoda : {M}eloidogynidae) in {N}orthern {M}orocco}, author = {{A}li, {N}. and {T}avoillot, {J}ohannes and {M}ateille, {T}hierry and {C}hapuis, {E}lodie and {B}esnard, {G}. and {E}l {B}akkali, {A}. and {C}antalapiedra-{N}avarrete, {C}. and {L}iebanas, {G}. and {C}astillo, {P}. and {P}alomares-{R}ius, {J}. {E}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{L}ow density of an unknown root-knot nematode was found on wild olive soils at {C}ape {S}partel near {T}anger city in northern {M}orocco. {M}orphometry, esterase and malate dehydrogenase electrophoretic phenotypes, as well as ribosomal {DNA} (r{DNA}) and mitochondrial {DNA} (mt{DNA}) sequences demonstrated that this nematode species differs clearly from other previously described root-knot nematodes. {T}he species is herein described, illustrated and named as {M}eloidogyne spartelensis n. sp. {T}his new root-knot nematode can be morphologically distinguished from other {M}eloidogyne spp. by: (i) roundish perineal pattern, dorsal arch low, with fine, sinuous cuticle striae, lateral field faintly visible; (ii) female excretory pore posterior to stylet knobs, {EP}/{ST} ratio 1.4-2.0; (iii) second-stage juveniles with hemizonid located 1 to 2 annuli anterior to excretory pore and long, sub-digitate tail; and (iv) males with lateral field composed of four incisures, with areolated outer bands. {P}hylogenetic trees based on 18{S}, {ITS}1-5.8{S}-{ITS}2, {D}2-{D}3 of 28{S} r{DNA}, and partial cox{II}-16{S} r{RNA} and cox{I} gene of mt{DNA} showed that {M}. spartelensis n. sp. belongs to an undescribed root-knot nematode lineage that is clearly separated from other species with resemblance in morphology, such as {M}. dunensis, {M}. kralli, and {M}. sewelli.}, keywords = {18{S} ; {B}ayesian inference ; {C}ytochrome oxidase subunit {II} ; {ITS} ; {M}aximumlikelihood ; mt{DNA} ; {N}ew species ; {P}lant-parasitic nematodes ; r{DNA} ; {MAROC}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{E}uropean {J}ournal of {P}lant {P}athology}, volume = {143}, numero = {1}, pages = {25--42}, ISSN = {0929-1873}, year = {2015}, DOI = {10.1007/s10658-015-0662-3}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010064896}, }
