  abstract = {{A}mong {A}frotropical representatives of the genus {C}himarra {S}tephens, 1829 ({T}richoptera: {P}hilopotamidae), the minima group is defined to include a number of closely related species that lack the mesal lobe of tergum {X}, have a membranous tergum {IX}, and also have characteristic structures of the inferior appendages and phallic apparatus. {A} preliminary list of the species is proposed. {T}he descriptions of {C}himarra ambaja {M}osely, 1939, {C}himarra callasae {G}ibon, 1982, {C}himarra sassandrae {G}ibon, 1982 and {C}himarra toubaensis {G}ibon, 1985 are supplemented. {O}ne synonymy is established {C}himarra petri {G}ibbs, 1973 as a junior synonym of {C}himarra minima {U}lmer, 1907. {F}ive new species are described: {C}himarra loffae n. sp. from {G}uinea, {C}himarra sanagae n. sp. and {C}himarra assambae n. sp. from {C}ameroon, {C}himarra vulgaris n. sp. and {C}himarra antsymeloka n. sp. from {M}adagascar. {N}ew citations for {W}est {A}frica, {C}ameroon and {M}adagascar, new distribution and ecological data are included and analysed.},
