@article{fdi:010064740, title = {{M}elghiribacillus thermohalophilus gen. nov., sp nov., a novel filamentous, endospore-forming, thermophilic and halophilic bacterium}, author = {{A}ddou, {N}. {A}. and {S}chumann, {P}. and {S}proer, {C}. and {B}en {H}ania, {W}ajdi and {H}acene, {H}. and {F}auque, {G}. and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel filamentous, endospore-forming, thermophilic and moderately halophilic bacterium designated strain {N}ari2{A}({T}) was isolated from soil collected from an {A}lgerian salt lake, {C}hott {M}elghir. {T}he novel isolate was {G}ram-staining-positive, aerobic, catalase-negative and oxidase-positive. {O}ptimum growth occurred at 50-55 degrees {C}, 7-10% (w/v) {N}a{C}l and p{H} 7-8. {T}he strain exhibited 95.4, 95.4 and 95.2% 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarity to {T}halassobacillus devorans {G}19.1({T}), {S}ediminibacillus halophilus {EN}8d({T}) and {V}irgibacillus kekensis {YIM}-kknyl 6({T}), respectively. {T}he major menaquinone was {MK}-7. {T}he polar lipid profile consisted of phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, three unknown phosphoglycolipids and two unknown phospholipids. {T}he predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-{C}-15:0 and iso-{C}-17:0. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 41.9 molok. {B}ased on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain {N}ari2{A}({T}) is considered to represent a novel species of a new genus in the family {B}acillaceae, order {B}acillales, for which the name {M}elghiribacillus thermohalophilus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain of {M}elghiribacillus thermohalophilus is {N}ari2{A}({T}) (={DSM} 25894({T})={CCUG} 62543({T})).}, keywords = {{ALGERIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {65}, numero = {4}, pages = {1172--1179}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2015}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.000075}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010064740}, }
