@article{fdi:010064690, title = {{F}usibacter bizertensis sp. nov., isolated from a corroded kerosene storage tank}, author = {{S}mii, {L}. and {B}en {H}ania, {W}ajdi and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {J}oseph, {M}anon and {H}amdi, {M}. and {O}llivier, {B}ernard and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{S}train {LTF} {K}r01({T}), a novel mesophilic, anaerobic, halotolerant, rod-shaped bacterium, was isolated from a drain at the bottom of a corroded kerosene storage tank of the {S}ociete {T}unisienne des {I}ndustries de {R}affinage ({STIR}), {B}izerte, northern {T}unisia. {C}ells were {G}ram-positive-staining rods, occurred singly or in pairs, and were motile by one lateral flagellum. {S}train {LTF} {K}r01({T}) grew at temperatures between 15 and 40 degrees {C} (optimum 30 degrees {C}), between p{H} 5.5 and 8.2 (optimum p{H} 7.2) and at {N}a{C}l concentrations between 0 and 50 g l(-1) (optimum 5 g l(-1)). {I}t reduced thiosulfate and elemental sulfur into sulfide, but did not reduce sulfate or sulfite. {I}t utilized a wide range of carbohydrates (cellobiose, {D}-glucose, {D}-fructose, {D}-mannitol, {D}-ribose, sucrose, {D}-xylose, maltose, {D}-galactose, starch and trehalose) and produced acetate, {CO}2 and {H}-2 as end products from glucose fermentation. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 37.4 mol%. {T}he predominant cellular fatty acids were {C}-14:0 and {C}-16:0. {P}hylogenetic analysis of the 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence suggested that {F}usibacter tunisiensis was the closest relative of strain {LTF} {K}r01({T}) (gene sequence similarity of 94.6%). {B}ased on phenotypic, phylogenetic and genotypic taxonomic characteristics, strain {LTF} {K}r01({T}) is proposed to represent a novel species of the genus {F}usibacter, order {C}lostridiales, for which the name {F}usibacter bizertensis sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain is {LTF} {K}r01({T}) (={DSM} 28034({T})={JCM} 19376({T})).}, keywords = {{TUNISIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {65}, numero = {1}, pages = {117--121}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2015}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.066183-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010064690}, }
