  abstract = {{A}mong the {P}yuridae family the genus {H}erdmania {L}ahille, 1888 differs from the diagnose of {P}yura {M}olina, 1782 by the presence of needle-shape echinated spicules in all tissues. {T}hese striking elements formerly led to identify many specimens collected in tropical or temperate waters as {H}erdmania momus ({S}avigny, 1916). {L}ater the genus was split into several species with a special attention to the different structure of the gonoducts. {N}ewly collected specimens and a revision of previously described animals in {P}olynesia lead to the redescription of {H}erdmania papietensis {H}erdman 1882 from {P}olynesia and to compare it to the other {H}erdmania species known in the {P}acific {O}cean.},
