@article{fdi:010062664, title = {{C}omposition et structure des peuplements ichtyologiques marins de l'{\^i}le de {M}ayotte (sud-ouest de l'oc{\'e}an {I}ndien) = {S}pecies composition and structure of marine fish communities of {M}ayotte {I}sland (south-western {I}ndian {O}cean)}, author = {{W}ickel, {J}. and {J}amon, {A}. and {P}inault, {M}. and {D}urville, {P}. and {C}habanet, {P}ascale}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{C}e premier inventaire des poissons marins de l’{\^i}le de {M}ayotte a {\'e}t{\'e} r{\'e}alis{\'e} en majorit{\'e} {\`a} partir d’informations issues de donn{\'e}es non publi{\'e}es. {U}n total de 759 esp{\`e}ces appartenant {\`a} 118 familles et 360 genres a {\'e}t{\'e} recens{\'e}. {D}e grandes similarit{\'e}s avec d’autres zones de la r{\'e}gion sud-ouest de l’oc{\'e}an {I}ndien sont observ{\'e}es dans la composition des peuplements, notamment dans la diversit{\'e} relative des principales familles. {L}es peuplements de l’{\^i}le se d{\'e}marquent toutefois par une diversit{\'e} sup{\'e}rieure de certaines familles ({C}arangidae, {S}erranidae, {M}ullidae) ainsi que par une forte proportion d’esp{\`e}ces de haut niveau trophique, caract{\'e}ristiques qui t{\'e}moignent d’un {\'e}cosyst{\`e}me fortement structur{\'e} pr{\'e}sentant de bonnes capacit{\'e}s de r{\'e}sistance face aux pressions diverses. {U}ne comparaison de la richesse sp{\'e}cifique th{\'e}orique du peuplement ichtyologique de l’{\^i}le avec les donn{\'e}es r{\'e}gionales indique, par ailleurs, que le peuplement pr{\'e}sent {\`a} {M}ayotte serait l’un des plus diversifi{\'e}s de la zone. {L}a localisation g{\'e}ographique de {M}ayotte, au centre du “triangle de corail” de l’oc{\'e}an {I}ndien occidental o{\`u} la courantologie r{\'e}gionale favorise le transport de larves et la connectivit{\'e} inter-r{\'e}cifale, l’anciennet{\'e} g{\'e}ologique de l’{\^i}le et le degr{\'e} de d{\'e}veloppement des constructions r{\'e}cifales sont autant de facteurs expliquant cette forte diversit{\'e}. {L}es communaut{\'e}s ichtyologiques inf{\'e}od{\'e}es {\`a} certains habitats, notamment les habitats non r{\'e}cifaux et les milieux profonds, {\'e}tant en outre encore largement m{\'e}connues, ce premier travail met en {\'e}vidence la n{\'e}cessit{\'e} de renforcer l’effort de prospection afin d’appr{\'e}hender cette biodiversit{\'e} exceptionnelle dans sa globalit{\'e} et ainsi promouvoir une politique de conservation adapt{\'e}e. {T}his first checklist of {M}ayotte marine fish species was conducted mostly from unpublished data. {A} total of 759 species belonging to 118 families and 360 genera was recorded. {R}egarding the species composition, and especially the relative diversity of the principal families, high similarities with other areas of the southwestern {I}ndian {O}cean region were observed. {H}owever, {M}ayotte communities stand out for their high diversity in several major families ({C}arangidae, {S}erranidae, {M}ullidae) and their high percentage of high trophic level species. {T}his feature indicates ecosystems with complex biomass structures and high capacities of resistance against various pressures. {A} comparison of the theoretical species richness of the overall marine fish community of the island with regional data also indicates that the {M}ayotte community may be one of the most diversified within the area. {T}he geographical location of {M}ayotte, in the centre of the western {I}ndian {O}cean "{C}oral {T}riangle", characterized by general currents favouring larval dispersal and inter-reef connectivity, its geological history and the stage of development of its reef structures are factors explaining this high biodiversity. {F}ish communities closely related to particular habitats, including non-reef habitats and deep-water environments, being largely unknown, this first work highlights the need to strengthen the prospecting effort to apprehend this exceptional biodiversity as a whole and thus promote an appropriate conservation policy.}, keywords = {{F}ish communities ; {M}ayotte {I}sland ; {B}iodiversity ; {T}rophic structure ; {T}hreaten species ; {B}iogeography ; {MAYOTTE} ; {OCEAN} {INDIEN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}ybium}, volume = {38}, numero = {3}, pages = {179--203}, ISSN = {0399-0974}, year = {2014}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010062664}, }
