@article{fdi:010062603, title = {{L}ong term observations of carbon dioxide exchange over cultivated savanna under a {S}udanian climate in {B}enin ({W}est {A}frica)}, author = {{A}go, {E}. {E}. and {A}gbossou, {E}. {K}. and {G}alle, {S}ylvie and {C}ohard, {J}. {M}. and {H}einesch, {B}. and {A}ubinet, {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}urbulent {CO}2 exchanges between a cultivated {S}udanian savanna and the atmosphere were measured during 29 months ({A}ugust 2007-{D}ecember 2009) by an eddy-covariance system in {N}orth-{W}estern {B}enin, {W}est {A}frica. {T}he site ({L}at 9.74 degrees {N}, {L}ong 1.60 degrees {E}, {A}lt: 449 m) is the one of three sites fitted out by the international {AMMA}-{CATCH} program. {T}he flux station footprint area is mainly composed of herbs and crops with some sparse trees and shrubs. {F}luxes data were completed by an inventory of dominating species around the tower and the meteorological measurements. {F}lux response to climatic and edaphic factors was studied. {W}ater was found the main controlling factor of ecosystem dynamics: much larger uptake was found in wet than dry season. {D}uring wet season, a very clear answer of net {CO}2 fluxes to photosynthetic photon fluxes density ({PPFD}) was observed. {A} low limitation in response to saturation deficit and soil water variability was however observed. {T}he total ecosystem respiration ({TER}) was found highly dependent on soil moisture below 0.1 m(3) m(-3), but saturates above this threshold. {T}he average annual carbon sequestration was 232 +/- 27 g{C} m(-2) with its inter-annual variability mainly controlled by {TER}. {F}inally, the ecosystem appeared more efficient during morning and wet season than during afternoon and dry period.}, keywords = {{E}ddy-covariance ; {S}avanna ; {N}et ecosystem exchange ; {A}nnual sequestration ; {S}udanian climate ; {W}est {A}frica ; {BENIN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}gricultural and {F}orest {M}eteorology}, volume = {197}, numero = {}, pages = {13--25}, ISSN = {0168-1923}, year = {2014}, DOI = {10.1016/j.agrformet.2014.06.005}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010062603}, }
