@article{fdi:010062388, title = {{H}alomonas olivaria sp nov., a moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from olive-processing effluents}, author = {{A}mouric, {A}. and {L}iebgott, {P}ierre-{P}ol and {J}oseph, {M}anon and {B}rochier-{A}rmanet, {C}. and {L}orquin, {J}ean}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} moderately halophilic, {G}ram-stain-negative, non-sporulating bacterium designed as strain {TYRC}17({T}) was isolated from olive-processing effluents. {T}he organism was a straight rod, motile by means of peritrichous flagella and able to respire both oxygen and nitrate. {G}rowth occurred with 0-25 % (w/v) {N}a{C}l (optimum, 7%), at p{H} 5-11 (optimum, p{H} 7.0) and at 4-50 degrees {C} (optimally at 35 degrees {C}). {I}t accumulated poly-beta-hydroxyalkanoate granules and produced exopolysaccharides. {T}he predominant fatty acids were {C}-18:1 omega 7c, {C}-16:1 omega 7c and {C}-16:0. {U}biquinone 9 ({Q}-9) was the only respiratory quinone. {T}he {DNA} {G}-{FC} content of {TYRC}17({T}) was 53.9 mol%. {P}hylogenetic analyses of 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequences revealed that the strain represents a member of the genus {H}alomonas and more precisely of the subgroup containing {H}alomonas sulfidaeris, {H}. titanicae, {H}. variabilis, {H}. zhanjiangensis, {H}.alkaliantarctica, {H}. boliviensis and {H}. neptunia. {TYRC}17({T}) showed high 16{S}-r{RNA} sequence identities in particular with the three last species listed (99.4-99.5 %). {A} multilocus sequence analysis ({MLSA}) using the 23{S} r{RNA}, gyr{B}, rpo{D} and sec{A} genes allowed clarifying the phylogenetic position of {TYRC}17({T}). {T}his, combined with the level of {DNA} {DNA} hybridization between {TYRC}17({T}) and its closest relatives ranging from 21.6 % to 48.4 %, indicated that {TYRC}17({T}) did not represent any of these species. {O}n the basis of phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, and also genomic and phylogenetic evidence, it was concluded that strain {TYRC}17({T}) represented a novel species of the genus {H}alomonas. {T}he name {H}alomonas olivaria sp. nov. is proposed with {TYRC}17({T}) (={DSM} 19074({T})={CCUG} 53850{B}({T})) as the type strain.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {64}, numero = {1}, pages = {46--54}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2014}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.049007-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010062388}, }
