@article{fdi:010061812, title = {{T}oscana virus infections : a case series from {F}rance}, author = {{D}upouey, {J}. and {B}ichaud, {L}. and {N}inove, {L}. and {Z}andotti, {C}. and {T}hirion, {L}aurence and {D}e {L}amballerie, {X}avier and {C}harrel, {R}. {N}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}oscana virus ({TOSV}) is a neglected sandfly-borne pathogen in {M}editerranean countries. {A}lthough discovered four decades ago, articles that describe the clinical aspects are scarce and consist mostly of case reports, with few series of cases. {W}e studied retrospectively symptomatic {TOSV} infections in patients hospitalized in {M}arseille ({F}rance) from 2004 to 2011. {S}eventeen patients were classified as probable or confirmed cases. {F}ourteen cases (82%) occurred between {J}une and {S}eptember, and 3 cases in {M}arch, {A}pril and {N}ovember. {T}wo cases were potentially imported from {C}roatia and {T}uscany. {A}ll patients presented with fever and neurological signs were observed such as aseptic meningitis (n = 6), muscular symptoms (n = 3), or encephalitis (n = 4). {T}he outcome was always favorable. {A}t the acute stage, anti {TOSV} {I}g{M} were observed in 14/17 patients, neutralization tests were positive for 3/8 patients, and {RT}-{PCR} confirmed {TOSV} infections in 5/8 {CSF} specimens.}, keywords = {{P}hlebovirus ; {A}rbovirus ; {E}merging ; {M}eningitis ; {F}ever ; {FRANCE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {I}nfection}, volume = {68}, numero = {3}, pages = {290--295}, ISSN = {0163-4453}, year = {2014}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jinf.2013.11.006}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010061812}, }
