({A}nnonaceae) is presented based on museum study of 157 collections. {D}istinctions are clarified among the four endemic species, two of them previously undescribed in flower and two others described in the literature from only the type collections. {A} key and species descriptions are presented. {X}ylopia pancheri {B}aill., the most frequently collected species, occurs in maquis environments with ultramafic rocks in the central and southern regions of the island, as well as on the {I}le des {P}ins. {X}ylopia vieillardii {B}aill, is widespread in low elevation humid forests but the remaining two species, {X} dibaccata {D}aniker and {X} pallescens {B}aill., have restricted distributions and their ecology is still incompletely known. {X}ylopia pancheri shares similarities with the endemic {F}ijian species {X} degeneri {A}.{C}.{S}m. and {X} vitiensis {A}.{C}.{S}m.; the remaining three species share more traits with the {F}ijian endemic {X} pacifica {A}.{C}.{S}m.}, keywords = {{A}nnonaceae ; {X}ylopia ; {N}ew {C}aledonia ; endemism ; biogeography ; seed dispersal ; {NOUVELLE} {CALEDONIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}dansonia}, volume = {35}, numero = {2}, pages = {207--226}, ISSN = {1280-8571}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.5252/a2013n2a3}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010061457}, }
