  abstract = {{R}anaivodes, new subgenus of {C}eraclea, is described from {M}adagascar. {I}t is closely related to the {S}outh {S}aharan endemic subgenus {P}seudoleptocerus {U}lmer. {R}anaivodes is characterized by the presence of the harpago and the absence of the phallic parameres. {P}seudoleptocerus is characterized by the presence of scales on the wings and two pairs of parameres at the phallic apparatus. {F}our new species are described: {C}eraclea ({R}anaivodes) sartorii n. sp., {C}eraclea ({R}anaivodes) higleri n. sp., {C}eraclea ({R}anaivodes) ifarantsae n. sp. and {C}eraclea ({R}anaivodes) jonathani n. sp. {H}omilia grandis {M}osely, described from {M}adagascar, is transferred from the genus {H}omilia to the genus {C}eraclea and to the subgenus {R}anaivodes comb. nov. {T}his new subgenus is endemic of the {I}sland and includes all the known {M}alagasy species of {C}eraclea. {T}he geographic distributions of the species are studied and analyzed according to ecological parameters.},
