@article{fdi:010061322, title = {{S}peciation in {T}haparocleidus ({M}onogenea : {D}actylogyridae) parasitizing {A}sian pangasiid catfishes}, author = {{S}imkova, {A}. and {S}erbielle, {C}. and {P}ariselle, {A}ntoine and {V}anhove, {M}. {P}. {M}. and {M}orand, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he phylogeny of monogeneans of the genus {T}haparocleidus that parasitize the gills of {P}angasiidae in {B}orneo and {S}umatra was inferred from molecular data to investigate parasite speciation. {T}he phylogeny of the {P}angasiidae was also reconstructed in order to investigate host-parasite coevolutionary history. {T}he monophyly of {T}haparocleidus parasitizing {P}angasiidae was confirmed. {L}ow intraspecies molecular variability was observed in three {T}haparocleidus species collected from geographically distant localities. {H}owever, a high intraspecies molecular variability was observed in two {T}haparocleidus species suggesting that these species represent a complex of species highly similar in morphology. {D}istance-based and tree-based methods revealed a significant global fit between parasite and host phylogenies. {P}arasite duplication (i.e., intrahost speciation) was recognized as the most common event in {T}haparocleidus, while the numbers of cospeciation and host switches were lower and similar to each other. {W}hen collapsing nodes correspond to duplication cases, our results suggest host switches in the {T}haparocleidus-{P}angasiidae system precluding congruence between host and parasite trees. {W}e found that the morphometric variability of the parasite attachment organ is not linked to phylogeny, suggesting that the attachment organ is under adaptive constraint. {W}e showed that haptor morphometry is linked to host specificity, whereby nonspecific parasites display higher morphometric variability than specialists.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{B}iomed {R}esearch {I}nternational}, numero = {}, pages = {353956}, ISSN = {2314-6133}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.1155/2013/353956}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010061322}, }
