@article{fdi:010060824, title = {{E}ctomycorrhizal diversity enhances growth and nitrogen fixation of {A}cacia mangium seedlings}, author = {{D}iagne, {N}. and {T}hioulouse, {J}. and {S}anguin, {H}. and {P}rin, {Y}. and {K}rasova-{W}ade, {T}. and {S}ylla, {S}. and {G}aliana, {A}. and {B}audoin, {E}z{\'e}kiel and {N}eyra, {M}arc and {S}vistoonoff, {S}ergio and {L}ebrun, {M}ichel and {D}uponnois, {R}obin}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}ncreasing interest has been given so far to the role of mycorrhizal symbiosis on plant diversity and ecosystem productivity. {H}owever much remains unknown about the effect of ectomycorrhizal fungal diversity on plant growth and rhizobial symbiosis. {T}he purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of ectomycorrhizal diversity on root nodulation and plant nutrient uptake during plant growth. {A} gradient of ectomycorrhizal diversity was created (ranged from one to six fungal isolates) on {A}ustralian {A}cacia ({A}cacia mangium) seedlings grown on a phosphate-deficient soil in controlled conditions. {T}he results dearly show (i) an enhancement of {A}. mangium growth due to ectomycorrhizal fungal inoculation, (ii) as well as significant effects of increasing ectomycorhizal diversity and soil ectomycorrhizal mycelium density on whole plant biomass and plant nutrient uptake. {T}hey also reveal an effect of ectomycorrhizal diversity effect on the functioning of the nitrogen-fixing symbiosis. {T}hese results emphasize the need to manage soil ectomycorrhizal potential (abundance and diversity of ectomycorrhizal mycelium) in forest management practices in order to optimize {N}-2 fixation and seedling growth, leading thus to dramatic improvements in outplanting performances with fast-growing tree legumes on various reafforestation sites, more particularly in tropical and {M}editerranean areas.}, keywords = {{E}ctomycorrhizal fungal diversity ; {N}itrogen fixation ; {T}ree growth}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{S}oil {B}iology and {B}iochemistry}, volume = {57}, numero = {}, pages = {468--476}, ISSN = {0038-0717}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.1016/j.soilbio.2012.08.030}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010060824}, }
