@article{fdi:010060800, title = {{V}irgibacillus natechei sp nov., a moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from sediment of a saline lake in southwest of {A}lgeria}, author = {{A}mziane, {M}. and {M}etiaz, {F}. and {D}arenfed-{B}ouanane, {A}. and {D}jenane, {Z}. and {S}elama, {O}. and {A}bderrahmani, {A}. and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel, {G}ram-positive, moderately halophilic bacterium, oxidase- and catalase-positive designated {F}ar{D}({T}) was isolated from sediments of a saline lake located in {T}aghit, 93 km from {B}echar, southwest of {A}lgeria. {C}ells were rod-shaped, endospore forming, and motile. {G}rowth occurred at 15-40 {A} degrees {C} (optimum, 35 {A} degrees {C}), p{H} 6.0-12.0 (optimum, 7.0) and in the presence of 1-20 % {N}a{C}l (optimum, 10 %). {S}train {F}ar{D}({T}) used glucose, mannitol, melibiose, d-mannose, and 5 ketogluconate. {T}he polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and three phospholipids; {MK}-7 is the predominant menaquinone. {T}he predominant cellular fatty acids were anteiso {C}-15:0, anteiso {C}-17:0, {C}-20:0, and anteiso {C}-19:0. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 42.1 mol%. {P}hylogenetic analysis of the small-subunit ribosomal {RNA} gene sequence indicated that strain {F}ar{D}({T}) had as its closest relative {V}irgibacillus salinus (similarity of 96.3 %). {B}ased on phenotypic, phylogenetic, and taxonomic characteristics, strain {F}ar{D}({T}) is proposed as a novel species of the genus {V}irgibacillus within the order {C}lostridiales, for which the name {V}. natechei is proposed. {T}he type strain is {F}ar{D}({T}) (={DSM} 25609({T}) = {CCUG} 62224({T})).}, keywords = {{ALGERIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}urrent {M}icrobiology}, volume = {66}, numero = {5}, pages = {462--466}, ISSN = {0343-8651}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.1007/s00284-012-0300-7}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010060800}, }
