  abstract = {{A} new middle {M}iocene vertebrate fauna from {P}eruvian {A}mazonia is described. {I}t yields the marsupials {S}ipalocyon sp. ({H}athliacynidae) and {M}armosa ({M}icoureus) cf. laventica ({D}idelphidae), as well as an unidentified glyptodontine xenarthran and the rodents {G}uiomys sp. ({C}aviidae), "{S}cleromys" sp., cf. quadrangulatus-schurmanni-colombianus ({D}inomyidae), an unidentified acaremyid, and cf. {M}icrosteiromys sp. ({E}rethizontidae). {A}patite {F}ission {T}rack provides a detrital age (17.1 +/- 2.4 {M}a) for the locality, slightly older than its inferred biochronological age ({C}olloncuran-early {L}aventan {S}outh {A}merican {L}and {M}ammal {A}ges: similar to 15.6-13.0 {M}a). {P}ut together, both the mammalian assemblage and lithology of the fossil-bearing level point to a mixture of tropical rainforest environment and more open habitats under a monsoonal-like tropical climate. {T}he fully fluvial origin of the concerned sedimentary sequence suggests that the {A}mazonian {M}adre de {D}ios {S}ubandean {Z}one was not part of the {P}ebas mega-wetland {S}ystem by middle {M}iocene times. {T}his new assemblage seems to reveal a previously undocumented "spatiotemporal transition" between the late early {M}iocene assemblages from high latitudes ({P}atagonia and {S}outhern {C}hile) and the late middle {M}iocene faunas of low latitudes ({C}olombia, {P}eru, {V}enezuela, and ?{B}razil).},
