@article{fdi:010060432, title = {{A}nalysis of the expression of the {AGL}17-like clade of {MADS}-box transcription factors in rice}, author = {{P}uig, {J}. and {M}eynard, {D}. and {K}hong, {G}. {N}. and {P}auluzzi, {G}. and {G}uiderdoni, {E}. and {G}antet, {P}ascal}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n plants, {MADS}-box transcription factors are key regulators of floral and fruit development, organ dehiscence and stress responses. {N}evertheless, the functions of most of them are still unknown. {I}n {A}rabidopsis thaliana, the {AGL}17-like clade of {MAIDS}-box transcription factors comprises four members. {AGL}17 is involved in floral induction, whereas {AGL}44/{ANR}1 is involved in the adaptive development of roots in response to nitrate. {AGL}21 is primarily expressed in the roots and {AGL}16 in the leaves, suggesting that these transcription factors may be involved in the control of vegetative development. {I}n {O}ryza sativa, the {AGL}17-like clade comprises five members, {O}s{MADS}23, {O}s{MADS}25, {O}5{MADS}27, {O}s{MADS}57 and {O}s{MADS}61. {I}n a first attempt to characterize their functions, we used promoter::{G}us reporter gene fusions and {RT}-q{PCR} to study the expression patterns of these genes and their regulation by different external stimuli. {T}he {O}s{MADS}23, {O}s{MADS}25, {O}s{MADS}27 and {O}s{MADS}57 promoters were active in the root's central cylinder. {I}n addition, the {O}s{MADS}57 promoter was active in leaves, whereas the {O}s{MADS}61 promoter was only active in the leaf tips and the stem base. {O}s{MADS}25 and {O}s{MADS}27 transcripts accumulated in response to osmotic stress, whereas the expression levels of {O}s{MADS}25, {O}s{MADS}27 and {O}s{MADS}57 were slightly induced by nitrate. {E}ach of these five genes was responsive to various hormonal treatments. {T}hese distinct expression patterns indicate that these five genes have specific and non-redundant functions that likely differs from those of their {A}. thaliana homologs.}, keywords = {{AGL}17-like ; {ANR}1 ; {AGL}16 ; {E}xpression pattern ; {H}ormones ; {MADS} ; {N}itrogen ; {O}smotic stress ; {R}ice ; {T}ranscription factor}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{G}ene {E}xpression {P}atterns}, volume = {13}, numero = {5-6}, pages = {160--170}, ISSN = {1567-133{X}}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.1016/j.gep.2013.02.004}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010060432}, }
