It recognises the rights and knowledge of local stakeholders in monitoring their own development. Participatory livelihoods monitoring is likely to be more costeffective and sustainable than monitoring conducted solely by external technical experts. It can be regarded as one component of REDD+ Measurement Reporting Verification (MRV) systems. Monitoring livelihoods impacts from REDD+ can be achieved in multiple different ways. In order to capture different aspects of livelihoods, as well as different types of potential REDD+ impacts, a combination of different data and sources may be useful, including national census data, secondary data through meta‐analysis covering large geographical areas, and data from site‐level observations (especially useful for looking at changes that cannot be detected by using official statistics or secondary data). This report present an approach developed as part of the I‐REDD+ project to develop indicators relevant to participatory livelihood monitoring in the context of REDD+. %$ 098RURAL1 ; 021ENVECO
