@article{fdi:010060229, title = {{T}owards a natural classification of {S}apotaceae subfamily {C}hrysophylloideae in {O}ceania and {S}outheast {A}sia based on nuclear sequence data}, author = {{S}wenson, {U}. and {N}ylinder, {S}. and {M}unzinger, {J}{\'e}r{\^o}me}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{G}eneric limits within subfamily {C}hrysophylloideae ({S}apotaceae) from {O}ceania and {S}outheast {A}sia are reconciled based on a molecular phylogeny. {W}e analysed sequences of nuclear ribosomal {DNA} ({ETS}, {ITS}) and the nuclear gene {RPB}2 with {BEAST} and parsimony jackknifing, using a sample of 168 terminals. {E}ight morphological characters were traced on a condensed majority-rule consensus tree to identify diagnostic character combinations for the genera. {A}ccepted genera with character support are {M}agodendron, {P}ichonia, {P}lanchonella, {P}ycnandra, {S}ersalisia, and {V}an-royena, while {B}eccariella and {N}iemeyera require amendment. {B}eccariella, a widely distributed group, is an illegitimate later homonym and we propose that the genus {P}leioluma is resurrected in its place. {T}he {A}ustralian genus {N}iemeyera is paraphyletic, but it is rendered monophyletic by reinstating {A}morphospermum for {N}. antiloga. {B}eauvisagea, {B}labeia, {F}ontbrunea, and {K}rausella are all segregates of {P}lanchonella and rejected, while {W}okoia is a later synonym of {P}ichonia. {P}lanchonella baillonii, an endemic species of {N}ew {C}aledonia, is the sole member of an old lineage and firmly placed as the sister to a clade comprising the other congeners. {P}lanchonella sandwicensis, a {H}awaiian species, previously proposed to be a distinct genus, is a member of {P}lanchonella. {I}n the {P}acific, {P}. tahitensis (including {P}. grayana) is a polymorphic species, widely distributed and adapted to a wide range of habitats. {W}e provide a generic key (excluding {X}antolis), diagnostic character combinations for all genera, and the necessary taxonomic combinations for {P}ichonia, {P}lanchonella, {P}leioluma, and {S}ersalisia to render each genus monophyletic.}, keywords = {{ARBRE} {FORESTIER} ; {PHYLOGENIE} ; {BIOLOGIE} {MOLECULAIRE} ; {MORPHOLOGIE} ; {TAXONOMIE} ; {NOMENCLATURE} ; {MARQUEUR} {MOLECULAIRE} ; {TOPOLOGIE} ; {OCEANIE} ; {ASIE} {DU} {SUD} {EST} ; {PACIFIQUE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{T}axon}, volume = {62}, numero = {4}, pages = {746--770}, ISSN = {0040-0262}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.12705/624.11}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010060229}, }
