@article{fdi:010054229, title = {{E}volutionary history of the {C}orallinales ({C}orallinophycidae, {R}hodophyta) inferred from nuclear, plastidial and mitochonclrial genomes}, author = {{B}ittner, {L}. and {P}ayri, {C}laude and {M}aneveldt, {G}. {W}. and {C}ouloux, {A}. and {C}ruaud, {C}. and de {R}eviers, {B}. and {L}e {G}all, {L}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{S}ystematics of the red algal order {C}orallinales has a long and convoluted history. {I}n the present study, molecular approaches were used to assess the phylogenetic relationships based on the analyses of two datasets: a large dataset of {SSU} sequences including mainly sequences from {G}en{B}ank; and a combined dataset including four molecular markers (two nuclear: {SSU}, {LSU}; one plastidial: psb{A}; and one mitochondrial: {COI}). {P}hylogenetic analyses of both datasets re-affirmed the monophyly of the {C}orallinales as well as the two families ({C}orallinaceae and {H}apalidiaceae) currently recognized within the order. {T}hree of the four subfamilies of the {C}orallinaceae ({C}orallinoideae, {L}ithophylloideae, {M}etagoniolithoideae) were also resolved as a monophyletic lineage whereas members of the {M}astophoroideae were resolved as four distinct lineages. {W}e therefore propose to restrict the {M}astophoroideae to the genera {M}astophora, {M}etamastophora, and possibly {L}ithoporella in the aim of rendering this subfamily monophyletic. {I}n addition, our phylogenies resolved the genus {H}ydrolithon in two unrelated lineages, one containing the generitype {H}ydrolithon reinboldii and the second containing {H}ydrolithon onkodes, which used to be the generitype of the now defunct genus {P}orolithon. {W}e therefore propose to resurrect the genus {P}orolithon for the second lineage encompassing those species with primarily monomerous thalli, and trichocyte arrangements in large pustulate horizontal rows. {M}oreover, our phylogenetic analyses revealed the presence of cryptic diversity in several taxi, shedding light on the need for further studies to better circumscribe species frontiers within the diverse order {C}orallinales, especially in the genera {M}esophyllum and {N}eogoniolithon.}, keywords = {{COI} ; {C}orallinales ; {M}astophoroideae ; {LSU} r{DNA} ; {P}hylogeny ; {P}orolithon ; psb{A} ; {SSU} r{DNA}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{M}olecular {P}hylogenetics and {E}volution}, volume = {61}, numero = {3}, pages = {697--713}, ISSN = {1055-7903}, year = {2011}, DOI = {10.1016/j.ympev.2011.07.019}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010054229}, }
