@article{fdi:010049083, title = {{S}peleothem evidence of warm episodes in northeast {F}rance during {M}arine {O}xygen {I}sotope {S}tage 3 and implications for permafrost distribution in northern {E}urope}, author = {{P}ons-{B}ranchu, {E}. and {H}amelin, {B}runo and {L}osson, {B}. and {J}aillet, {S}. and {B}rulhet, {J}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{U}-{T}h ages have been obtained by {TIMS} on the growth periods of a stalagmite from the "{G}rotte des {P}uits de {P}ierre-la-{T}reiche" (northeastern {F}rance), during the middle part of the "{W}eichselian glaciation" ({M}arine {I}sotope {S}tage 3), between 55.36 +/- 0.95 and 53.34 +/- 0.49 ka and around 45.85 +/- 0.49 ka. {T}hese episodes are contemporaneous with abrupt climatic variations recorded in {G}reenland ice cores ({G}reenland interstadials 12, 14 and 15) that have been previously recognized in {E}uropean speleothems. {T}hey also coincide with two interstadials, known as "{G}oulotte" and "{P}ile" in the {G}rande {P}ile pollen sequence (eastern {F}rance), which have been correlated with the {M}oershoofd complex in the {N}etherlands. {S}uch evidence of speleothem deposition related to temperate episodes gives a strong indication of the absence of continuous shallow permafrost during the middle part of {MIS} 3 in northeastern {F}rance.}, keywords = {{S}peleothems ; {P}aleoclimate ; {W}eichselian glaciation ; {P}ermafrost ; {MIS}3}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{Q}uaternary {R}esearch}, volume = {74}, numero = {2}, pages = {246--251}, ISSN = {0033-5894}, year = {2010}, DOI = {10.1016/j.yqres.2010.06.007}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010049083}, }
