@article{fdi:010040765, title = {{A}ccumulation of acaricide resistance mechanisms in {R}hipicephalus ({B}oophilus) microplus ({A}cari : {I}xodidae) populations from {N}ew {C}aledonia {I}sland}, author = {{C}hevillon, {C}hristine and {D}ucornez, {S}. and {D}e {M}eeûs, {T}hierry and {K}offi, {B}rou {B}asile and {G}aia, {H}. and {D}elathiere, {J}.{M}. and {B}arr{\'e}, {N}.}, abstract = {{R}hipicephalus ({B}oophilus) microplus has been pesticide-controlled for several decades in the pacific island of {N}ew {C}aledonia. {S}ince 1996, pesticide-control has been based on either deltamethrin ({B}utox ({R})) or amitraz ({T}aktic ({R})) in herds harbouring deltamethrin-resistant ticks. {I}n this island, the first {R}. microplus deltamethrin- and amitraz-resistances were detected in 1992 and 2003, respectively. {U}sing {LPT} bioassays, we have undertaken to update data regarding the geographical distribution and the physiological diversity likely to be involved in these resistances. {W}e confirmed that after 17 years of intensive use of deltamethrin, several resistances of moderate levels (< 30-fold) have evolved and/or diffused in any part of the island. {W}e also evidenced that amitraz-resistant phenotypes have recently evolved in diverse western tick populations, although none has reached fixation in any tick population yet. {A}ccording to synergists bioassays, the physiological changes involved in amitraz-resistance in {N}ew {C}aledonia would involve target modification and detoxifying {P}450 cytochrom oxydase(s). {I}t may also involve detoxifying esterase(s) although this later point will need confirmation on samples bearing higher frequency of resistant phenotypes. {R}esults are discussed with regard to the local evolutionary dynamics of resistance.}, keywords = {{R}hipicephalus {B}oophilus microplus ; resistance ; deltamethrin ; amitraz ; synergists ; bioassays}, journal = {{V}eterinary {P}arasitology}, volume = {147}, numero = {3-4}, pages = {276--288}, ISSN = {0304-4017}, year = {2007}, DOI = {10.1016/j.vetpar.2007.05.003}, URL = {http://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010040765}, }
