@inproceedings{fdi:010025632, title = {{T}race elements distribution in the {A}ndean sub-basins of the {M}adeira river : role of the weathering processes in the freshwaters geochemistry}, author = {{M}aurice {B}ourgoin, {L}aurence and {G}asc, {F}. and {S}eyler, {P}atrick and {E}lbaz {P}oulichet, {E}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he distribution of trace elements was investigated in surface waters in two upper {A}mazonian basins. {T}hree main factors of the geochemical characterisation of the rivers explained mainly by weathering and dilution processes, are: substrate lithology, mining activities, and organic content. {T}he dissolved elements reflects the lithological differences between the {M}amore and {B}eni basin. {A}ndean tributaries of the {M}amore {R}. are characterised by high concentrations of {M}n, {S}r, {M}o, {B}as and {U} while high concentrations of {A}s {Z}n, {C}d and {C}s characterise tributaries of the {B}ani {R}. {D}issolved {S}r, {B}a, {M}o, {R}b, {U} correlate with major ions and appear to be predominantly derived from soluble rocks. {I}nflence of the shale erosion explain the high concentrations of {V}, {Z}n, {C}u and {P}b measured in {B}eni tributaries. {T}he high values of {C}o, {N}i and {M}n reflects the {P}alaeozoic detritical series from the drainage basin of the {T}ipuani and {C}hallana rivers. {T}he higher content of {M}n in the {I}chilo river may reflects the predominance of carbonate rocks. {R}egarding to the antropogenic influence, the high {Z}n, {A}s, and {C}d concentrations measured in the {T}aquesi river can be explained by important mining activities.
