  abstract = {{T}he world of trading and processing fish continues to be differentiated along gender lines. {W}hile women present in the sector originate from a narrower and more specific social environment than their male counterparts, their educational level is also lower. {C}orrespondingly, the size and the scale of their enterprises are smaller and their profits more limited. {Y}et, contrasts between men and women in this regard vary both across seasons and in function of the specific profile of the trading or the processing (drying, smoking, salting) activities considered. {C}onversely to what one might believe, women do not always suffer from the shortcomings attached to the low season.
